June 14, 2014 - 2nd Annual Mid-Atlantic RV Fly-in

EAA Chapter 1384 hosted their second annual Mid-Atlantic RV Fly-in this Saturday at nearby Carroll County airport (KDMW).  Of course, Dragon Flight had to make a grand entrance.  I first flew to York and met Chef, Lawbreaker, Condor and Popeye.  We briefed then headed over to Carroll County.  Condor, who has more formation time than I do in the RV total, led the five-ship.   From left to right:  Chef, Claw, Condor, Popeye, Lawbreaker.

Ed H., who just joined my EAA Chapter and is a prospective RV builder, flew with me.  It was his first time in an RV.   He got some RV stick time, got to see some formation flying, and got to look at 40 or so RVs up close.  Plus he talked with the owners and builders.  Finally, on the way back to Essex Skypark, I showed him what an RV can do.  I'm pretty sure he's going to commit to building!

I was so busy socializing that I didn't spend much time taking pictures.  And it shows.  They are pretty lame.

Chef and Riggo talking to Joe Z. who along with Craig M. put together this awesome video of the fly-in:  Link.  It includes some good video of our 5-ship formation flying, plus an OK landing by myself.

Proof of attendance.

There was some wind, although it was right down the runway.

Just like last year, this Mustang II snuck in trying to blend in with the RVs!

Chef and Lawbreaker confronting Carlos who built and flys the Mustang II.

Classy paint job on this RV-8.  Or is it a Harmon Rocket?

Matt T. flew his RV-7A in from the Richmond area.

All in all, it was a fun fly-in.  It was good to see all my RV friends.
